It is clear to see that the womens movement as come a long way since the sixtys. When i was a child girls could not do woodwork or play football or cricket. But being a tom boy i did play cricket with the boys in the little cul- de-sac where i lived and often beat them.

Where i lived as a child was a pleasant middle class area most of the children went to private School but i went to a secondry School off the beaten track where most kids came from council estates not because my foster parants could not offord to send me to private school but because they would not.,i could not wait to get home i got on much better with the middle class kids. I just was not street wise enough for the working class kids at my school they were too rough for me.

My step mother was a wicked tongued cruel woman but she was outwardly a lady ,a smart so called respectable woman, very proud and independant, very honist  very well spoken.  I never had toys and things but i always had good quality clothes even if they were not the sort i would choose it was all part of her plan to make sure i looked well looked after.

Dispite there being no womens rights then my step mother ruled our house in every sense of the word. Shedding a few tears when she could not get her way seemed to work for her. She took control of every thing.
